Jesus clarified what God’s drawing involves. He cited recognized authority for His statement that all whom the Father had chosen would come to Him. Old Testament prophets had revealed that God would teach His people (Isa. 54:13; cf. Jer. 31:34). Those whom God enlightened about Jesus’ identity would believe in Him. That enlightenment comes primarily through the ******ures, God’s principle tool.http://www.arabchurch.com/forums/#_ftn1

God worked on us through his Word. The prophets had said the people would be taught by God (Isaiah 54:13; Jeremiah 31:33, 34). And everyone who hears and learns from the Father comes to Jesus.http://www.arabchurch.com/forums/#_ftn1

.6:45 cancels or at least weakens 6:44. The expression, It is written in the prophets, And they shall all be taught of God, does not in any sense whatever place in the hands of men the power to accept Jesus as Lord. Here is more — much more! — than mere intellectual advancement. Here, too, is more than that plus moral suasion. Here is the transformation of the entire personality! The reference to the prophets is very general, indicating that it was the prevalent teaching of that section of the Old Testament which is called “the prophets” that in the Messianic age all the citizens of the true Israel would be taught of God. The following passages immediately occur to the mind: Isa. 54:13; 60:2, 3; Jer. 31:33, 34; Joel 2:28; Mic. 4:2; Zeph. 3:9; and Mal. 1:11. Clearest is Isa. 54:13, as is evident when we place side by sidehttp://www.arabchurch.com/forums/#_ftn1 It is not true that

The ******ural support for the necessity of God’s role in human believing is taken from the same section of the prophets that has already been alluded to in the discourse. And they shall all be taught by God is drawn From Isa. 54:13.http://www.arabchurch.com/forums/#_ftn1

Verse 45. It is written in the prophets] Isa 54:13; Jer 31:34.
They shall be all taught of God.] This explains the preceding verse. God teaches a man to know himself, that, finding his need of salvation, he may flee to lay hold on the hope which his heavenly Father has set before him in the Gospel. God draws men by his love, and by showing them what his love has done for them. Fear repels, but love attracts. He who is ever preaching the terrors of the law, and representing God as a vindictive judge, will never bring sinners to him. They are afraid of this terrible God: but they love him, who so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him might not perish, but have everlasting life.

Ver. 45.—It is written in the prophets; either in the division of ******ure called “the prophets,” or because the substance of the statement is found to pervade the prophets, and to receive express, if not literal, utterance in Isa. 54:13. The prophet, on describing the glorious triumphs of the Servant of the Lord in his new kingdom, added (LXX.), Καὶ πάντας τοὺς υἰοὺς σου διδακτοὺς Θεοῦ, καὶ ἐν πολλῇ εἰρήνη τὰ τέκνα σου, “And all thy sons [I will make] to be taught of God, and in much [great] peace thy children” (cf. also Jer. 31:34. [LXX., 38:34.], for the same thought in other words).http://www.arabchurch.com/forums/#_ftn1
